Artist Statement: This was a collaborative piece between two friends, Shawna Lacoste, who is incarcerated, and Lucy Goubert, who is not. The conception of our shared piece included the fact that with the prison mail system, Shawna would only ever be receiving photocopies from me; the originals are destroyed each time i mail them to her through florida. We each started a piece and sent them back and forth to eachother through florida and the prison mail system.
